Larissa - Achileio (Contact)
The plant located in Achileio, on the old National road between Larissa and Volos, started operating in 1994.
The total area covered is 100,000 m2, including the ginning mill, the warehouses and the offices that cover an area of 10,500 m2. The ginning machines are the same as in Livadia, made by Continental Eagle with daily production of 750 bales.
There is a large sandlot especially landscaped for storage of raw cotton.
In Velestino, near Volos port and almost attached to the Athens-Thessaloniki national road, the backbone of Greek road system, Violar s.a owns an area of 200,000 m2.
It facilitates a 47,000 m2 warehouse complex of 10 separate roofed buildings for cottonseed storage, two separate silo complexes and warehouses for grains and feedstuff with a capacity of 120,000 metric tons. Each silo complex is equipped with temperature monitoring sensors, air cooling system, and air cleaning system that removes foreign matter before trucks’ loading.
Almost equally distanced from Athens and Thessaloniki, places it in the center of the country’s two largest cities. The complex itself is on the crossroad of convergence of different means of transportation which in detail are as following:
-
National Highway: Prompt direct access through the nearby Volos Intersection.
-
Port: Located only 9 km from the port of Volos, the complex is ideal for servicing ships of all sizes with minimal charge/discharge and transportation costs.
-
Railway Station: Our facilities are adjacent to the railway station of Velestino, making rail transportation an extremely viable solution.
